Live tropical fish are beautiful creatures that come in different shapes, sizes and colors and may be found in freshwater or saltwater. Today, there are as many as thousands of species of these fish thriving in the oceans of the world and their popularity reigns on the fact that they are often bright and colorful.

Tropical fish are grouped together on the basis of their compatibility with each other, as well as other aspects like their size or the size of the tanks they need to be kept in for people who would like to have them in their homes in aquariums, their breeding and feeding habits, origin and temperature of water etc.

There are a vast number of live tropical fish. Bichirs and Reedfish are mostly those that are predatory and nocturnal. Catfish include yet another group of a wide variety of tropical fish like Aspidoras, Brochis and Corydoras. These sizes of these fish depend from 1.1 inches to even 7.9 inches. Classified under this wide arrangement one can again find Talking Catfish, Airbreathing Catfish and Banjo Catfish. Their main diet is algae and their habits depend upon the type of climate they are subject to.

Characins include different types of tetra fish which usually have long fins and can stand a number of water qualities. These fish require utmost care and are not suitable for beginners in fish breeding because they might be dangerous as well; as they harass other fish they live with, and in some cases might even eat the smaller ones.

Cichlids are very active and entertaining fish and can be found in a myriad of different colors, however, some of them may also be very aggressive.

Cyprinids include types of Barbs, Rasboras and Danios. Most of them are sold as Siamese algae eaters and have to be usually taken care of within a community of other fish like Neon Tetras and White Clouds.

Killfish like the Bluefin Notho and Rainbow Notho are considered to be the most beautiful freshwater tropical fish by enthusiasts. Labyrinth fish on the other hand are moderately sized and consist of different types of Gouramis which look like each other such that they are often mistaken for one another. They have numerous colors and fin pattern varieties. Some of them attack each other and cannot be kept together in tanks, whereas others live peacefully.

Live Bearers are yet another group of live tropical fish consisting of Guppies, Mollies, Platies and Swordtails, which have many colors and tail patterns. They are easy to handle and take care of and can live together in communities of the same or different species.
